Miss Stroop does not approve of the debauchery aboard 
the Sartoraeous. She means to turn the crew's focus away 
from the pursuit of pleasures and toward the exploration and 
careful study of Fortean phenomena and methods of propulsion. 
A logical thinker by nature,  Miss Stroop staunchly believes that 
a woman's place is somewhere far above men but does not see that 
as an excuse for women not to act like ladies, even if they are 
working in traditionally male-dominated fields. 

Of course, Emmaline is young and still impressionable, if not 
a little idealistic, which makes her malleable to the strange, 
sinful ways of the rest of the crew.
