Do angels have wings?

The early books of the Old Testament make no
mention of their angels having wings. For example, no
wings are mentioned in connection with the "dark
angel" who wrestled with the Jewish patriarch Jacob
at a river ford before dawn.
What's more, the earliest Christian artists
showed angels as wingless youths.
In fact, angel wings did not start to crop up in
Christian art until roughly the era of Rome's first Chris-
tian emperor, Constantine the Great, the one who
converted after seeing a cross in the sky before a
major battle.
Angels then began to take on the winged look
of the ancient Greek goddess of victory Nike - whose
of name today is known mostly as an athletic brand.

I was on the phone with my sister one evening, talking
about a very spiritual subject. When I looked over to my
right and saw an angel walking from my kitchen into my
livingroom. The time of actually seeing him must of lasted
all of one secound, but that secound will stay with me all
my life. When I saw him I gasped like I had never gasped
before, I literally couldn't breath at first. I had to
strugle to take air into my lungs, it was like having the
wind knocked out of me. I was totally in shock.
The last thing I ever thought to see in my house was an angel.
I'm very certain about what I saw and it would be very hard
to have someone convence me otherwise. While I didn't see
his body or face, I did see the profile of his wings.
Actually just his left wing. First of all the color is white.
unlike any white I've seen on earth, please don't make them
any other color. They're wings are definatlly white, Heven White.
I find the best comparison of appearance in color, texture,
and the way it feels to the touch is that of fine dull porcelain.
Like a porcelain dolls face. While they appear as wings they
are not made of feathers, chiken feathers are no comparison.
However they do hold the majesty as an eagle in soaring flight.
As for the size, they were just shy of ceiling height,
(8ft.) . The wing was three to five inches from the top of
the ceiling and draged just slightly on the floor. This guy
I saw was no wimp. If I had to describe what I saw in-just one
word that word would be "Might". The wing exude God's strenght.
It was like looking at a very muscular arm. He was definatly
a warrior.

Along with the debate over their
form comes the tricky question of why '
some people can "see" angels while others
cannot. "Angels exist through the eyes of
faith, and faith is perception," observes
Westerhoff. "Only if you can perceive it can
you experience it. For some, their faith
doesn't have room for such creatures.
That's not to demean their faith. That's just
the way they are; they cant believe things
that aren't literal, that are outside the five
senses."

In her best-selling collection of angel
encounters, A Book of Angels, author Sophy
Burnham writes that angels disguise them-
selves as a dream, a comforting presence,
a pulse of energy, a person to ensure that
the message is received, even if the mes-
senger is explained away.

"I was asleep, dreaming when suddenly I was taken
out of the dream and found myself somewhere,
bathed in a glorious light. To my utter surprise,
I was staring into the eye of another. He held me
in a force field, and I couldn't see out of my right
eye, but this being's face was pressed up close to
my face. I didn't feel anything but I could only see
his eye Left eye). He was a living being. I saw his
brown orbed eye, his dark lashes and fine brow. He
had radiant olive skin. His eye moved, only slightly,
and I wanted to see his whole face but I couldn't
move. He didn't speak but I felt he wanted me to
understand something. Then, after what seed at
least half a minute, he released me and the glorious
light vanished and he was gone."
"I was back in my bedroom. I sat up in bed. The dawn
was just beginning to pale the darkness. To my
great surprise, everywhere I looked, I saw his eye
in after-image I It was as though I had stared at
the sun I He had burned the image of his eye upon
my retina! I saw these after-images in fine detail
for fifteen minutes after I was awake, before they
gradually faded and went away."
"Five years later, he came through to me again. I
am an artist and a writer (not published). I was
drawing faces from imagination and one face in par-
ticular bothered me for I had drawn the left eye too
large. So, I erased the eye, and drew in another.
The whole face changed when I did that and I felt
a shock go through me as I stared at the sketch."
"I had drawn the face of the being who had left his
eye burned upon my retina! I recognized him!" I
knew him! He was someone dear to me. It was like
amnesia I I knew I knew him and he was someone
beloved but I had not known him in this life! I
wept, and as I did I felt that holy light and the
portrait seemed alive as I felt his thoughts enter
my head. He said, 'How is it you do not remember me?
I have been with you all through your life.'"
"...My son entered the room and saw me weeping. I
couldn't speak of what was happening."
"There was a sharp pain in my lower chest and it
persisted. So, I went to the doctor the next day
and they ran tests. Two weeks later I was told I
must have surgery or I could die. This angelic
experience happened on November 19th. On December 14th,
received a phone call from my son in Oregon. I had
not been in contact with him for at least three
months. His first words were, 'Morn, are you all right?'
I answered, 'Yes, I am very ill'."
"He then told me he had on Dec. 2, dreamed his deceased
father had come to see him to tell him I was ill.
Later, he confessed what his father had really said
was that he had seen me two weeks ago 'over there' --
so I knew Bob (my son's deceased father) had witnessed my
angelic contact of November 19th! And assumed I
was also deceased! And had gone to tell his son!"

"Angel of (Tame) Animals - Hariel, Behemiel.
Hariel - Angel with domination over tame beasts.
Hariel is invoked against impieties. He rules
science and the arts and is of the order of
the cherubim."

"Behemiel - An angel with dominion over tame
beasts. Behemiel is chief of the order of
hashmallim, an order equated with that of the
cherubim. "
A Dictionary of Angels
Gustav Davidson, 1967

Each order of animals, vegetables, and minerals has its
guardian angel. This has seemed to be the only explana-
tion for the wonderful guidance everywhere obvious in
the processes of existence, growth, and propagation. The
heavenly kingdom includes them in its wisdom and
compassion. Each form of life which has not yet been
individualized has a group spirit guarding and guiding its
destiny. The hierarchy of souls, the next division below
the angels, is humanity which was given dominion over
all the creatures of the earth. The angelic beings that
direct the inner growth of the various species depend
upon mankind to guard the physical rights of the various
kingdoms and their subdivisions. In the mineral kingdom,
the stones and metals, gems and elements, all have their
rights and privileges.

                            Manly P. Hall, 1980

"...Also, there being lesser and higher
angels, -they can appear as ordinary people. Angels
also have -the power to appear to the dying as
large lights which speak in thought or mind to mind.
Angels can appear to the ill or dying in whatever
form serves the cultural expectations of the
mortal visited. So, in this sense, they can
effect wings (be seen as having wings) if this
is what is expected, because no Angel of God
wants to be mistaken when he or she appears to
a mortal! Oh yes. Angles are either male or
female like we are. The Godhead does not create
an incomplete thing."

Ann is convinced that her prayers were
heard. Even years later, the memory re-
mains as vivid as it is out of this world. One
morning, three days before she was to enter
the hospital for surgery, Gary answered the
doorbell. Standing on the step was a large
man, a good inch taller than her 6-ft. 5-in.
husband. "He was the blackest black I've
ever seen," Ann says, "and his eyes were a
deep, deep azure blue." The stranger intro-
duced himself simply as Thomas. And then
he told her that her cancer was gone.
"How do you know my name, and how
did you know I have cancer?" stammered
Ann. Then she turned to her husband and
asked, "What do we do, Gary? Should we
ask him in?"

Thomas came inside and again told
them she could stop worrying. He quoted
scripture to them Isaiah 53.' 5: ". . . and
with his stripes we are healed."
Ann, still confused, looked at the man
and demanded, "Who are you?"
"I am Thomas. I am sent by God.
